Innocence, Intelligence, Emotions, Experience, Habits & Awareness!
People who operate simply out of innocence always look for people whom they can trust.
They have some how switched off their thinking/feeling apparatus but will rely upon the thinking/feeling stimuli of the people whom they trust and will react based on their thoughts and emotions.
They are primarily followers of the leader, whom they trust.
They can simply be used as tools for operation in day to day life. They would lack gaining respect, because every one will subsequently know that they lack their own logic/emotions to defend their decisions/actions.
They just become the reflection of the image of their leader, that they hold within themselves. I think this actually stems from their parents who are highly caring for their children and look after them at all times serving their needs with love and the void that they leave behind when the parents pass way…becomes a trap in their life. Any one who cares a bit will be elevated to the place of the father and mother and people rejoice finding their lost love and wanting to turn innocent again celebrating their new found love in their life.
Osho says that this need for a father figure and mother figure, which is in every one of us is the reason that we have gods depicted as father and mother, who psychologically encash the traps that our parents left behind.
I have met such people in my courses and also in real life, which helped me to identify that part of me within myself.
It is always very easy to work with Innocent people, but they would give their 150% once you win their trust…but the cost of leading them can be too high, especially when they loose their trust on you for whatever reason. So working with them involves high maintenance to manage the trust factor by rewarding them or punishing them and making them understand that all the reward and punishment is in the interest of their own growth.
Basically I would say people who are just purely innocent are blind people like children!
In some ways, they lack their centre and are heavily dependent on their guardians/parents, who are their centres. Indian Housewives, who totally are dependent on their husbands or children financially, emotionally, intellectually can also be get trapped by Innocence in Life!
People who operate purely out of intelligence are often human calculators.
They know to think effectively and choose the best option in any situation. They don’t need any home work to deal with any situation. They can just come, operate and move on. It is like students who go to group discussion with out any preparation and still perform well in the moment and win the prizes.
People who operate out of intelligence are very strong and centered in the moment to their own self. They have sharp observation skills and can deduct patterns and predict patterns/outcome in any situation and will be able to influence the outcome by playing with the patterns amongst the people.
They are always interested in winning the race and would be ruthless in their action and reactions.
Control of power is simply their taste of life. The more power they have the more gratified they are. They are excellent problem solvers and today’s corporate world is hungry for people who are like this and infact, the corporate world and the way their system functions can generate or transform any one into pure intelligent being by comparisons, rewards and punishments.
They are high on logic, but what they lack is sensitivity! They may be too interested in winning the game, that they could pay any cost for that. As they are more guided by their mind, sometimes they can miss out on the emotions of people around them. Every word that they say is calculated, well thought out and is aimed towards a target outcome for themselves such as winning some one’s trust or to elicititating a particular behaviour from some one, which inturn would bring back the power to them, which is what finally matters to them.
They would automatically be attracted to people who act out of innocence, as the innocent guys can become good second tier soldiers, once they are trapped into their games.
People who operate purely out of emotions are often like the weather. They keep changing from high to low…warm to cold…humid to wet…from time to time. When they are on the high, they really celebrate and think that there is nothing more in life and when they are on the low, it is tough to come out of the low for prolonged period of time.
A wave of emotions can wash them from moment to moment and they can easily get amused or triggered by any stimuli around them, which fits or doesn’t fit with their rule book.
They can be aggressive or in total surrender depending upon which emotion is ruling them.
In creative dance, they teach us to play with emotions using dance…Happy, Sad, Love, Anger, Fear, disgust…These are the variety of their life. They would be moving from one emotion to another and behave weird to others, who don’t understand their stimuli/experience and emotions behind.
They would often be in search of logic that will fit with their emotions, that will validate their actions guided by those emotions. They are tend to be reactive and are habituated to regret later for being reactive.
To manage and rise above their emotions is a big challenge for them and when they do that, they stop exhausting themselves and feel a lot relieved.
They are very very sensitive and can be very poor decision makers, when it comes to effectiveness as they often try to balance every one’s emotions by taking charge for every one’s mood.
When you live with them, you have no choice than to become the vessel to hold this emotions from time to time and there is a lot of drama that will be involved in everything they do.
Without such people, there is no celebration/ no fun / no drama in life. We all know that…we all have this part in ourselves and have allowed them to rule us and our world at different phases of our life! :)
Once you pretend to understand their emotions and play along with their emotions, anyone can easily win their confidence/trust and lead them into anything :)
Incase you go the other way helping them to overcome their emotions, be prepared for a strong backlash when they rebound back into their emotions :)
Usually, we can see this phase in teenagers and also in people who are victims of injustice and unfairness in their life.
People who purely operate of experience are dead n the present moment.
They are wise, but they are dead. They have lost their ability to breath fresh. Where ever they go, they have the same experience, as it is through the experience that they see. It is very very difficult to convince them into anything different. They usually have stuff to say and make sure that others listen.
They can be easily won over, if you just listen to their experience and agree to their point of view. If you don’t, they would kill you by complaining and justifying their point of view.
If they are attached to happy experiences of life, then they come across as enthusiastic and energetic waving the flag of happiness in life and talk about adventure and attitude in life.
If they are attached to sad experience of life, then they come across as depressed and down waving the flag of despair on everything and anything.
They would always have enough evidences from the past to justify their actions in the present situations.
They are very predictable in life and hence very boring unless if you are interested in knowing their stories of life.
This is actually the opposite of being innocent and predominantly we can see old age people who are like this or if you have too much experience in one area of your life, then you become like this. When you are nearly there, people start calling you as expert :) So you can include many professionals who can get trapped by their way of experiencing this world and would stand by their way of experiencing the world as the only way!
People who live abroad for long and get attached to the system there, when they come back to India can get trapped by their experience abroad and fail to grasp the beauty of their old system.
These are people who are puppets in life.
They do good things or bad things, but they would keep doing it for whatever reason. They are highly addicted to their behaviours/thoughts and emotions. They are humans who are transformed into machines. They don’t have the ability to do something new. They always feel proud of their habits and how much they work hard to keeping their habits. When habit takes over, life becomes mechanical.
They are happy to just be the slave of their habits, rather than trying something new and shake the fading life out of their soul. They are great guardians of their own habits and will feel proud of having them.
They see the world around with their habits and anyone who is not having their kind of habits are usually looked upon, discriminated, judged or evaluated according to their rule book.
Rather than focusing on the higher purpose in life, they get confused on attaching themselves to a particular habit as success and if they can’t, then as failure in life.
People who are high on habits are usually low on intelligence and are very poor in unpredictable moves in any situation. They usually do a lot of homework before facing any situation and can get really nervous if they are just allowed to face any situation out of the blue.
They enjoy the fruits of their habit through out their life and also bear the challenges of their habits through out their life. Usually they end up as preachers of habits and enjoy advising, installing more people into their habits and finds peace in the process!!
You can see religious people, activists, institutional people as example of this.
Infact most of our schools/colleges are interested in doing this to our children! When children get it, they are called as highly disciplined…but I would say they are nearly dead :)
NLP meta-programmes can give you a list of programmes that we run automatically (habit) in our brains and muscles and give a good overview of various habits that people carry and how they behave.
These are people who are alive & sensitive in every moment.
They can see what sometimes others cannot see. They choose innocence, intelligence, emotions, experience or habits cautiously in life. They have ability to maintain a balance between these various faculties and understand what’s needed in any situation. They are highly connected to their priorities and purpose in life and every action stems from the awareness of purpose behind.
They are usually solitary beings and contemplation is their way of life. Where ever they are, they will always find their pockets of silence and be grounded to their inner silence & self.
It is tough to fool them and lead them into any action against their values. They are often value conscious and will always be open in disapproving actions in their surrounding which doesn’t fit with their values.
They are usually optimistic and rarely pessimistic.
They would never let a moment go by in regret…but rather be focused on what can be done now to get what they want for themselves and others in life.
They are very careful in attaching themselves to any habit…and will always be the leader of their habits and mind and not let the vice versa to happen.
When they are misled, they are quick to realise, repent and correct their path with ease as they are usually low on ego!!
They are usually connected to the energies beyond their self and often listen to the universal signs and use them as guidance for their action and hence are very intuitive!
You can see these kind of people rarely. it is hard to find them and easy to miss them :)
Final Note :
Whatever I have written, I have chosen to polarise people into one of the boxes for the sake of ease in describing these qualities and what they can do to you and me.
Rather than looking at people inside this boxes all the time, it would be better if we look at these qualities as streets which people pass by.
Sometimes there are junctions where two streets meet…for example innocence and habit…and that would be a deadly combination….or awareness and intelligence, that would be very sharp…or intelligence and emotions…
Or there could be junctions, where three or four or five streets meet…
We can live inside a narrow street for a while…or we could live in our favourite junctions in life…forced by situations and people in our lives….or we could be moving in and out of all these streets from time to time…
I know these ideas may not be perfectly correct…
They just mirror my experience with different people I have come across in life.
I am sure this is not 100% of what it is, but I know this will give you some fodder for you, whichever street or junction you are in interms of your personality make-up!
Wait for the next article for some stories and people that I found interesting and beautiful in my life…:)
